Bike Extravaganza on the White Rim in Canyonlands

May 21, 2007

Woooooo! What a week I just had. Pyper and I took a much needed vacation and joined some folks for a bike riding adventure that spanned a 100 miles of desert in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, UT. My bottom is still healing as the memories are being solidified.

The Bike ride began with a steep down hill into the canyon.

The crew!

It was a great time of year to be in the desert. The temperature wasn’t to bad and flowers covered the sandy landscape.

The support vehicle following behind the line of bikers.

Good times! Hanging out in the shade.

The sparrows were just as interested in us as we were in them.

All the edges!

Then the storm came. It poured on us. Lightening, thunder, rain, hail and the wind at work making the canyons bigger.

The party after the storm.

This guy was waiting for one of us to fall over after a big climb to where he was perched.

This slot canyon gave us all a place to cool off in the mid afternoon heat! After 20 miles only 13 more to go.

Ahhhhhh! A cool dip in the Green River.

Thats my girl pumping it up the incline! Go pyppy!

A little friend I made in camp.

Pyper and I had a wonderful time. We survived the heat, the storm, the bike ride, partying in the desert, and even survived hitting a deer on the way home. Quite the adventure! It was great making some new friends. I think we may have to go chill on the beach for our next vacation!
