“The Creative Life”
featuring the work of jROD and Pyper Hugos
an art opening November 6 from 5-9pm
@ Altitude Gallery

Living an inspired life isn’t always easy, making a living off inspiration can be even harder. So, is the creative life worth it? Jarrod Eastman (aka jROD) and Pyper Hugos think so. They are the creative husband and wife behind jRODaRT and You Got Mojo. They met 11 years ago in Granada, Spain. Magnetized by their mutual love of life and creativity, they have been pursuing careers in the arts ever since they met. Jarrod has always been drawn to painting while Pyper’s love for anything old and rusty, especially metal, has led her to jewelry. jROD’s work leans towards an urban aesthetic while holding true to a painterly style. His paintings appear kinetic and surreal with the essence of a story just beginning or of one in progress. Pyper’s jewelry is beautiful in its simplicity of design and color. Using reclaimed automotive steel, found objects, and sterling silver, she reinvents pieces that transcend time and genres, creating art that is at once retro yet modern.
.
These two artists have teamed up with Amy Kirkland of Altitude Gallery to bring you a one night art extravaganza…”The Creative Life”. They will be showing new artwork from the last few months in the studio. jROD will also be releasing a new 16 x 20 limited edition print series, and Pyper will be unveiling new bracelets and rings in her line of jewelry. “Showcasing Jarrod and Pyper’s innovative styles in such an architecturally unique gallery space will be nothing short of inspirational. It is a collaboration that has been a long time in the making.” says Kirkland. “It’s a great time to support a local gallery and local artists and pick up a special gift for the holidays or for yourself.”

This event is sponsored by Altitude Gallery and Montana Ale Works and will take place at the gallery located at 134 E. Main St. from 5 to 9pm on November 6th, 2009. Stop by for some great art and libations. Pyper and jROD would like to thank Bozeman for the many years of support. “It’s a community like Bozeman that lets us thrive in our imaginations and we are honored to continue sharing the results” said jROD.

on the road again
So after a long trip and multiple shows we have made our way back to Montana.  It was a great trip and we met so many new folks and made some great new collectors. We are honored. The spring weather down south treated us right and really the only thing I missed was my studio space and some serious painting time.  You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Now back in the studio, I am going to be diligent about  bloggin progress shots of the new work and the studio happenings. So stay tuned.

I have 4 or 5 paintings in the works as of right now and we are hoping to get some of the canvas prints up on the website this week. Our summer shows will be fast upon us.  I  have shows scheduled in Logan, SLC, Jackson Hole, Bend, and Bellevue this summer.

And check out this:I am the featured artist for the Fall 41st annual Tempe Festival of the Arts

We just finished up our 6 week 5 show tour. It was great to meet everyone, and thanks to everyone who collected a piece. The new canvas prints went off. We have two weeks off, then we hit Art City Austin before we head back to the studio.

Pyp and I had a great time in Houston and got to have some big city fun at the Houston Museum of Fine Art. We’ll be back.

As a side note we are still taking internet orders while on the road, but won’t be shipping out purchases until April 24th when we get back to Austin. For now working on a new piece and riding my bike in the desert again.

I was honored with Best of Painting at the Tempe Festival of the Arts two weekends ago. It was a big surprise to me because there are some great painters at these events and I thought it was a great step for the pop surrealism movement in the sense of it getting recognition in such a traditional venue.

Thanks to all those involved.

Finished with shows for the year and watching the weather to find a window back into Montana. Looking forward to getting back into the studio and making some new work. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. It was good to see some old faces and meet some new ones too. To paint is a dream and one I can’t continue without you. Thanks for collecting and for spreading the word.
